Okay, so I have a c'dale track and the beginning of the serial number is 058. It fits a little big for me, I am 5'10'.

I have been in contact with someone that believes they have a smaller frame, but their serial number is 058 also. They have compared their bike to one that is much larger, supposedly a 60, but they both have the 058 serial number.

So the situation is, we believe we all have different size frames, but all have the 058 serial number. What is going on?Thanks for the help in advance. Posted By: suicidedoors.

Have you tried measuring them?Posted By: William3000Just measure. You can find the geo chart on vintagecannondale.com look up in the 92/93 catalog. You'd think this would work, but there is actually nothing that measures out to 58cm on a 58cm frame (and this goes for all frame sizes, save for the 54cm whose top tube corresponds). Also, it's difficult because Cannondale does not list any seat tube measurements, and there is hardly a charted different between a 56 and a 58 (in fact, I'm still not absolutely positive what size mine was). I'd say figuring out how they are really sized has more practical value than comparing what they have to the catalog.

Nine-tenths of one centimeter accounts for the differences in top tube measurements for the 56, 58, and 60cm frames. I agree with you, but the only tube length Cannondale lists is the top tube. IF all three of these guys were comparing their bikes while looking at the geo chart, then yes their bikes would measure out similarly (i.e. Each one having a top tube of 56.x centimeters, which makes it feasible that one's a 56, one a 58, and one a 60).

But, if all three serial numbers begin with '58' (or '058', as it may be), then they are definitely 58cm frames.OP: how about making a list of the seat tube (c-t) and top tube (c-c) measurements for all three frames?. The thing that is confusing me is that they visually look different, but according to serial numbers they are them same.and no, i dont think there are a bunch of custom tube lengths, im just trying to figure out the size.

Okay, I admit that I know very little about Cannondales; but it seems to me that y'all are assuming facts not in evidence. Do you know for a fact that Cannondale put the size information in the serial number? Do you have a published source to back up that belief? If it's online, can we see a link?It just doesn't seem obvious to me that the size info (or the model info, or the component info, or whatever) would be encoded in the serial number. The overwhelming majority of bike manufacturers don't do that, good idea though it may be.
